Ensuring Tree Health and Safety

Professional Tree Inspections by Walker Tree Care

We offer two different types of inspections to meet different needs. Tree Condition Surveys and BS5837 Tree Surveys.

Tree Condition Survey

A Tree Condition Survey is focussed on assesing the health, safety and structural integrity of individual trees. This type of inspection is typically carried out to:

  • Identify signs of disease, decay or structural weakness.
  • Evaluate the risk to people and property.
  • Reccomend appropriate management actions such as pruning, monitoring or removal.

These surveys are commonly requested by landowners, schools, housing associations and local authroities, as part of an ongoing tree risk management or after extreme weather events.

BS5837 Tree Survey

A BS5837 Tree Survey is carried out in accordance with British Standard 5837:2012, specifically for planning and development purposes. This type of survey is required when trees are present on or near a proposed development site. It provides:

  • A detailed inventory of trees, including species, size, condition and life expectancy.
  • Tree catagorisation to identify which trees should be retained or may be removed.
  • Root Protection Area (RPA) calculations to inform construction plans.
  • Guidance for intergrating tree retention into site layout and deign.

These surveys are essential for submitting planning applications and ensuring compliance with local authroity requirements.
