We received an urgent call-out to attend to a fallen beech tree in Bishop’s Stortford. The tree had collapsed across a public footpath and extended into nearby school grounds, posing a significant safety hazard. Upon inspection, it was determined that a combination of recent storm activity and underlying root decay had contributed to the tree’s failure.

Our team promptly mobilized to secure the site and begin clearance operations. Due to the size and position of the fallen tree, the work required two full days to complete. This included carefully processing the tree, cutting the trunk and larger limbs into manageable sections, and fully clearing the footpath to restore safe public access.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proactive tree management. When high winds or severe weather are forecasted, it is strongly recommended to have trees, especially mature specimens inspected by a qualified arborist or tree surveyor. Early identification of structural weaknesses or root issues can help prevent hazardous failures and ensure the continued safety of public spaces.
