Project Overview

We were hired by a local authority to carry out a crown reduction on a mature silver birch tree as part of ongoing tree management efforts. The objective was to control the tree’s size and maintain its structural form within the space it occupies.

One of our lead climbers accessed the canopy using rope and harness techniques and carried out a precise reduction, working back to suitable growth points to encourage healthy regrowth and maintain a balanced, aesthetically pleasing shape.

Silver birch trees can reach heights of up to 30 metres and, if left unmanaged, may outgrow their setting. Strategic reductions such as this help manage both the height and overall form of the tree, ensuring it remains safe, healthy, and in keeping with its surroundings.
